Q: Do you have a portfolio I can look at?
A: Yes, I do. This website is a small portion of my portfolio. Contact me to setup an appointment to see the rest of my portfolio.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: I assisted my father and other wedding photographers from 1985 to 1999, except for a couple years when I was in graduate school. I started my own wedding photography business in 1999.
Q: Do you have skill in diffused lighting and soft focus?
A: Yes, I do. Soft focus and diffused lighting are required skills for wedding photographers. There are examples of both techniques in my portfolio.
Q: Is your equipment capable of shooting in any lighting situation?
A: Yes, it is. I use professional equipment by Mamiya, Canon, Calumet, Sunpak and Sigma.
Q: Do you do portraits?
A: Yes, I do. Wedding photography is an extension of my portrait work.
Q: What other photo services do you offer?
A: I offer custon mounting, image transfer to disc, prints from slides, slides from prints, custom photo and greeting cards.
Q: Are you the person who will be taking the pictures?
A: Yes, I will be the person you meet with to discuss your wedding, the photographer at your wedding and the person who delivers your finished pictures to you.
Q: What wedding package plans are available?
A: At FocalLength Photography, all pricing is done on an A La Carte basis. For pricing details, please see the FocalLength Photography Wedding Package Price Sheet.
Q: Do you do negative retouching?
A: Yes, I do. It is all done on the computer, instead of the actual negative. Most minor corrections are included in the price of the print. If major corrections are needed, there may be a fee added to the price of the print.
Q: How much are reprints?
A: The prices for all reprint sizes available are included on the FocalLength Photography Wedding Package Price Sheet.
Q: What are the delivery dates for prints?
A: Your wedding pictures are typically available for online viewing approximately two weeks after the wedding. I will deliver your proof book and proofs approximately four to five weeks after your wedding.
Q: Is a deposit required? How much is it? When must it be paid? When is the balance due?
A: A deposit of $200.00 is due when the contract is signed. The balance is due two weeks prior to the wedding.
Q: When should I book my photographer?
A: I would recommend booking your wedding photographer as soon as possible. Many wedding photographers have their entire year scheduled by April. So, the sooner you book your photographer, the better.
Q: Can you put together a formally posed album and a photo-journalistic style album telling the story of our wedding?
A: Yes, I can. Both traditional matted albums and contemporary flush mount albums are available.
Q: How many different photographs will be taken in all?
A: The number of pictures taken at your wedding depends on the length of time I am at your wedding. Usually, my assistant and I take approximately 100 to 150 pictures per hour.
Q: What size of prints are offered?
A: Prints are offered from wallet size up to 24 inches by 30 inches.
Q: Are special mountings an additional expense?
A: Yes, there is typically an additional fee for prints with special mounting. This fee depends on the type of special mounting requested.
Q: Is there a minimum order requirement?
A: No, there is not. There are no minimum order requirements with any reprint orders.
Q: What album styles are available and what is the cost of each?
A: I offer both traditional matted albums and contemporary flush mount albums. The price of an album depends on the size of the ablum, the cover material and the type of album. All album prices include the prints for the album.
Q: How long will you stay at the ceremony and the reception?
A: The exact breakdown of the time depends on how your wedding day is structured. Typically, fifty percent of the time is spent on the formals, thirty-five percent on the reception and fifteen percent on the ceremony.
Q: Is a travel cost included?
A: Typically, travel cost is included in the price of the wedding package. If your wedding is outside of Western Washington or in the San Juans, a small travel fee will be added to the package price.
Q: What extra services are available? Do you have photo invitations and thank you notes? Do you make special mini-gift albums for relatives?
A: If you need help finding other vendors for your wedding, I can help with that. Custom photo invitations and thank-you cards are available. Mini-albums for friends and family are available.
